Instruction Using Adhesive Layer

1. Adhesion and strength

The best possible adhesive results is achieved if the following are observed.

The substrate to stick on
a. Do not use any surfaces that contain silicon, paraffine or wax.
b. Do not use (ground) paint with strength reducing additives (silicone, paraffin, wax or other plasticizers).
c. Remove dust
d. Make sure the surface is dry.
e. Apply the adhesive layer on a smooth, closed surface.
f. Use thicker, leveling adhesive for rough uneven surfaces.
g. Prevent chemical reactions from the surfaces. (e.g. copper/ manganese; hese additives react with rubber adhesives).

Temperatures
a. The optimal application temperature is 20° C to 30° C, in dry areas. Do not apply adhesive tape to an environment below the 10° C or at a high humidity.
b. Store adhesive tape at 18° C and approx. 55% rel. humidity.

Use
a. Press the adhesive tape with sufficient and constant force.
b. Tools (and hands) must be clean.
c. The maximum adhesive strength is reached after about 24 hours.
d. Avoid permanent pressure on the tape.

2.      Instructions for pasting on suitable surfaces

Anti sticking materials
A good adhesive tape can be applied to almost all materials except for materials that behave anti-sticking.
For example: Teflon, silicone-containing materials and non-polar plastics such as PE and PP.
Sticking to these materials is difficult: An increase in adhesive strength can only be achieved by a mechanical, physical or chemical surface pretreatment in such cases.

Use on plastic and painted surfaces
These are usually trouble-free substrates, but performing a thick test is recommended.

Use on metal surfaces
Non-ferrous metal, e.g. lead, cadmium, copper, brass and nickel: Check for use or chemically reacting/discolouring these metals on adhesive tape.
Anodized aluminum: Removing adhesive tape is possible.

Pretreatment of the surface
To obtain  optimal adhesion, the substrate must be clean, dry and grease free. Therefore , remove all dust, grease, wax and dirt before applying the adhesive tape.

Preparation of the adhesive tape
Apply the adhesive tape preferably at a room temperature of about 18°C to 25°C. Press the adhesive tape with sufficient and constant pressure. (The normal greater adhesive strength is achieved after a few hours).

3.      Removing the adhesive layer

Remove the adhesive tape after outdoor use is often not possible without tools. For example, if the band has been exposed to UV radiation for longer than three days.

The adhesive tape must be pulled slowly and gradually from the substrate. Sometimes it is necessary to first heat the tape with a hair dryer.

Remnants of the adhesive can me removed with an ordinary thinner, if necessary using a scrapper. Ensure good ventilation while working with thinner or other chemical detergents. Wear a respiratory mask with an A2 gas filter.
